A common individual found in every 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 who severely dampens motivation is

😑 The Chronic Underperformer

Just because people get a salary, it doesn’t mean that they are willing to do their work. There is a considerable number of individuals who show up for work with the sole intention of passing time until the workday ends, making a minimal effort.

Tolerating one bad employee is a sure way to demotivate many great employees. Quote by Unknown

♟️ Their Strategy

They come up with various excuses, leveraging slow and non-transparent processes as an opportunity to conceal their lack of productivity. These individuals excel at feigning excessive workloads or shifting blame onto others for missed deadlines etc.

💰 The Financial Loss

These employees not only prove to be unproductive and extremely costly, but their inefficiency goes far beyond the mere sum of their salaries. They can waste company resources, including time, money, and materials. Their inefficiency can lead to missed opportunities and reduced profitability. Let alone employees who look for another position inside or outside the company to get away from this type of person.

🧟 The Cultural Damage

  • Colleagues who work with unproductive individuals may become demotivated, frustrated, or disheartened by the lack of teamwork and the additional burden of covering for their unproductive peers.

  • The presence of unproductive individuals can erode trust within a team or organization, as colleagues may question the fairness of the work environment.

  • These individuals may contribute to a toxic work environment.

👉 Take Action

Identifying them can be challenging, as uncovering their true performance often requires one to be an expert in knowing people. Once they are known, it is time to tell them what they have to fix and give them a chance to improve.

✉️ Parting Ways is not cruel

If they are still not willing to change their behavior, it is time to let them go. This is not cruel. What cruel is, is what these people do to their peers and the work environment while they refuse to do their work properly.

👆Leadership Fail

Thoroughly assess their manager. Ask why they didn't take action sooner and why they couldn't improve the performance of that employee. Leadership has to lift a team to their best performance. Clearly, there was a leadership failure.
